The bold comments below were made by a good friend of mine with a liberal perspective. Below each comment, I provide my response to her assertions.
President Trump normalized bigotry, hate, and discrimination.
Actually, it was President Obama, the smooth talking con man who brought racial condescension and racism to the mainstream. Throughout his life he conspired with and embraced vile racists like Louis Farrakhan, Al Sharpton, Bill Ayers, and Frank Marshall. Also, for 20 years, Obama attended a church pastored by a foul mouthed racist who hoped God would damn America and white people would be punished for their sins. Don’t forget, it was Barack Obama who referred to African Americans as “mongrels” when he appeared on The View.
On the other hand, Donald Trump was awarded the Ellis Island Medal of Honor in 1986 in celebration of “patriotism, tolerance, brotherhood and diversity”. President Trump signed prison reform legislation that will primarily benefit African Americans who have been imprisoned for non-violent offenses.
President Trump is not a condescending man who coddles people to make them feel better. He is blunt. He is honest. He does not suffer fools easily - whether they be white, black, yellow, brown, men, or women. He believes in tough love and hard work. Most importantly - he delivers results as can be seen by his awards, his legislation, and the lowest African American unemployment rate in the history of the United States.
He does not support LBGT.
President Trump is the president of all Americans irrespective of their sexual proclivities. Every American is benefiting from lower taxes, less unnecessary regulations, a growing economy, low unemployment, less war, secure borders, etc. In addition, he is using the power of his presidency to protect LBGT individuals from being imprisoned and killed in other countries.
On the other hand, President Obama pushed for transgenders to use the bathroom of their choice. He did nothing to pressure other countries to stop killing and imprisoning transgenders.
Reasonable people agree that saving lives is more important than the room transgenders flush toilets - again, President Trump outperformed President Obama.
He is profiting from the taxpayers and using our resources for his personal gain.
This is a frequent talking point of MSNBC and CNN - there is absolutely no proof of it. The fact that foreign dignitaries sleep in Trump Hotels is not proof of him gaining from being president. Foreign dignitaries stayed in his hotels prior to him becoming president, they stay there now, they will stay there after he is president.
Bill Clinton was paid $750,000 per speech by foreign entities when most people expected Hillary Clinton to become president. After she lost, he receives $50,000. This is the epitome of using an office for personal gain - corruption. Activist liberals fail to mention this little quid pro quo the Clinton machine engaged in.
He constantly lies...how the. Can one trust him?
Can the words of a politician ever be trusted? No. Recall the “Lie of the Year” President Obama told - “You can keep your doctor, if you like your doctor.” Recall President Clinton - “I didn’t have sex with that woman, Ms. Lewinski...”
Politician should be evaluated based on their actions and results, not their words. Donald Trump has accomplished or is in the process of accomplishing everything he promised during his campaign.
President Trump has been the most productive and consequential president in our lifetime (with the possible exception of Ronald Reagan).
He is taking advantage of the infirm, doing nothing for the poor, the sick and taking advantage of those weak of mind.
His policies have directly led to a massive improvement in the economy. The best thing a president can do for the poor is create an expanding economy. The poor, middle class, and rich have more opportunities today due to Donald Trump’s policy than at any time in the past 20 years.
The only “weak of mind” people he has taken advantage of are radical liberals. Liberal activists in politics and the media have engaged in character assassination of conservatives for many years. President Trump does not suffer activist liberal fools easily. Trump punches back against liberal haters like Pelosi, Schumer, Waters, The View, CNN, MSNBC, and all the rest. He outplays liberals at their own game of character assassination. Not surprisingly - they don’t like it - because they are losing.
He separated children from families and took no accounting of their identities or maintaining parental contact.
We need to remember, who started the policy of separating children from their parents. President Obama was the first person to separate families and put the children in cages. Yes - President Hope and Change started the policy that activist liberals now criticize President Trump for doing.
President Trump used the Obama’s policy initially, but he revised it and made it more compassionate.
However, the blame for separating children from their parents does not lie at the feet of American Presidents - it is 100% the fault of illegal alien parents who break our immigration laws.
The U.S. is the most welcoming and compassionate country in the world. The U.S. allows more legal immigrants into the country than any of country in the history of the world.
This is a critical point - we have a process to immigrate to the U.S. legally. People must to come to the U.S. through the front door - legally. Anyone who comes to the U.S. illegally through the back window - should be sent home immediately.
Liberal activists support partial and post birth abortion - in other words, they defend the right to kill infants. The fact activist liberals criticize children being separated from their criminal parents, while they support infanticide, proves activist liberals amoral.
His policy changes are destroying our environment, creating more pollution of air and water.
Our environment is cleaner than it has ever been - by every scientific measure.
He repudiates science at every turn and refuses to address climate change.
He knows and everyone knows our climate changes. He repudiates the liberal policies to address our changing climate. This is because liberal policies to address a changing climate will have zero impact. Their “solutions” make life worse for humans today and will not stop the climate from changing tomorrow. Liberal “solutions” are similar to amputating a leg to avoid gangrene from a scrapped knee.
He is loyal to no one...ask any of his 3 wives.
We expect the President of the United States to be loyal to America and the U.S. Constitution - not to any individual. President Trump has been laser focused on his promise to Make America Great Again!
Further, we learned from Democrats and liberals during President Clinton’s Administration that the president’s personal life is irrelevant to his professional career. President Clinton was accused of rape by numerous credible women and Democrats turned their backs on his female victims.
Monetary environment is good right now....but at the expense of running up the deficit.
During the Obama Administration the Fed engaged in monetary easing (essentially printing money). The fed is now raising interest rates (ever so slowly). In other words, President Obama was operating in an expansionary monetary environment, while President Trump is operating in a contractionary one.
President Obama increased the debt more than all of the prior presidents - COMBINED.
Bigotry...good people on both sides when Nazis are one of the sides?
President Trump pointed out that there were good and bad people on both sides. There were. Antifa is a violent left wing hate group. They engage in protest tactics, including property damage, physical violence, and harassment against those they disagree with politically.
LBGT...he tried to kick people out of the military who were faithfully serving our country.
He did not try to kick out LGBT’s out of the military. The military is against making the accommodations the trans activists are asking for - like sex reassignment therapy. Any person, regardless of their sexual proclivities can serve in the military, if they do not request special accommodations.
Lies...he says whatever the person in front of him wants to hear at the time.
He has done or has attempted to do everything he promised on the campaign trail. He has never lied like President Hope and Change when he said “If you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor.”
He has made us less safe in this world by believing Putin, Kim Jon Un, and the Saudi Prince at face value and effectively cutting ties with our allies.
He has NOT cut ties with our allies. He has held them accountable. He expects all countries to live up to their commitments.
President Obama giving BILLIONS of dollars to Iran? Yes, Iran. They are the #1 state sponsor of terrorism (according to President Obama’s State Department). Why did Obama give BILLIONS of dollars to a sworn enemy of the U.S.? Do I need to point out the obvious?
President Obama also allowed Russia to INVADE and TAKE OVER the Crimea. Remember how Obama told Medvedev he would have more flexibility after the 2016 election? Why did Obama allow Russia to usurp the Crimea? Do I need to point out the obvious?
President Obama allowed ISIS to take over the Levant. Why did Obama allow ISIS to take over the Levant? Do I need to point out the obvious?
President Obama provided aid and comfort to enemies of the United States. Why? Do I need to point out the obvious?
President Trump has spent the last two years cleaning up the mess left for him by Bush/Obama.
The world is an undeniably safer place under the leadership of President Trump.
Please please please watch a little CNN or MSNBC every day. I watch a little FOX most days. It’s important to hear both sides. None of the above 3 are unbiased but the more info you hear the better you are at making up your own mind.
I watch MSNBC, CNN, and FOX, and I read The NY Times, Wall Street Journal, The Huffington Post, Breitbart, and many others on a daily basis.
